One unknown fact about bats is that they are the only mammals they have wings. They primarily live on insects, bugs but there are some types of bats even eat fruits and vegetables. Normally bats don’t harm anyone and it is good to have them around because they help in keeping insects away from your house. But if you find bats in the house in places like attics or garage, they you probably want to get rid of them. 

Getting rid of Bats

Bats are quite noisy and their droppings can create big mess in the house. Bats usually are active during midnight hours but if you have bats in the house, you can hear their voices all the time that can drive some people insane. The urine and droppings in the house can create foul smell and also can be unhealthy, especially if you have pets or children in your house. So if you have bats in the house and you want to get rid of them, then you can try these tricks to remove them.

·         First and foremost thing to do is to check with animal control authorities in your state, if you are allowed to catch bats and remove them. if not, then you should call professional services to remove them

·       1.   If you have bats in the house and want to remove them, then you should wait for the right time. You should not carry bat removal project in winters because they hibernate during winters. If you put them out in winter, they might die, which is illegal

·         2. You need to find all entry and exit points of bats in the house. The best way to locate bats in the house is to look for their droppings or shells of dead insects. Once you have found then, most probably bats would be nesting right above it

·         3. Make use of a wired mesh once they leave for the night. Use it as a temporary block because all bats might not fly away in first time. Repeat the process for a week and make sure you have all of them out.

·         4. Once you have removed all of them, make sure you clean the area because it is unsafe to the leave the house unclean.

It is an unpleasant sight to see bats running around your house frantically. Though they are a wonderful asset to the nature, but when it comes to our homes, we prefer to keep them out. But even before you start taking steps to remove them from your house permanently, you should know what you are doing. You might think, removing bats from your home is easy. But it is not, especially if you are not trained professionally. Also, many people use in humane methods to get rid of them. Today we would discuss methods of getting rid of bats from your Attic and that too in a natural and effective way:-

1. First and the foremost thing to do are to look for signs of Bats infestation in your house. You need to know how they are entering your house, what kind of specie are they and look for damages caused by them. You might not even notice about bats infestation for days, as they come out in night and go back to their homes at dawn. Bats have a habit of roosting in warm areas, therefore look for places like attics that are a bit warmer. Look for the fecal droppings around your house. This way you would know if you have to start preparing for bat removal project in your house.

2. Once you know the places from where they enter, you can start get rid of bats in the attic by sealing all the holes and gaps leading in to your house. These are the primary entry and exit points from where these bats fly in and out. Even if you don’t know where they are entering from, just look for all potential holes before they even discover. But before you start pinning these holes, remember to never seal the main entry and exit point before getting rid of bats in the attic, as it may trap them permanently in your house.

3. After all the other holes and gaps are filed, now is the time to get rid of bats in the attic by using exclusion devices. If you have them, then it is good else you can call for a professional team who obviously will have all these devices. Bats have a good sense of remembering the architecture. Using exclusion devices like netting or funnels would make the bats fly naturally without hurting them. Just one recommendation, you should start the project in the night as they are active that time.

4. Once you are confirmed that all the bats are removed from your house, seal the entry and exit points completely. Bats have a good memory and would attempt to re-enter the building for a long time. Since they are fragile in nature, therefore they won’t be able to claw o chew their way back in. So, if you do everything correctly, then you can get rid bats from attic completely. 

5. Last but not the least, after getting rid of bats from your attic completely, you should do a cleanup exercise. During their stay they would have dropped their fecal matter and urinate in your attic. Also, bats leave a very strong odor behind. Therefore, cleanup is required to avoid any health problems.
